Meet your doctor

Hello, I'm
Dr. Shweta Bambhaniya

I'm an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), the most widely recognised qualification in breastfeeding care. For ten years I worked in NICUs and paediatric hospitals, sitting beside mothers of tiny, premature babies and helping them feed against the odds.

That's where I learned that almost every mother can be helped with patience, the right knowledge and someone in her corner. At Lactation Clinic in Naranpura, Ahmedabad, I bring that same care to every family: first-time mothers, mothers of NICU graduates, and anyone finding feeding harder than they expected.

"There's no single right way to feed a baby. My job is to help you find yours."

How I can help

Personal care for every feeding challenge

Every mother and baby is different. At our lactation clinic in Ahmedabad, a careful assessment leads to a simple plan that fits your family and your routine.

Latch and positioning

Learn comfortable holds and a deep latch so feeds are effective, calm and pain-free for both of you.

Low milk supply

Understand what's really happening, then build your supply with a practical, personalised plan.

Nipple pain and engorgement

Relief for sore or cracked nipples, blocked ducts and painful, overfull breasts, and help to stop them coming back.

Feeding difficulties and breast refusal

Gentle, patient strategies when your baby fusses, refuses the breast or struggles to feed well.

Premature and NICU babies

Expressing, storing and giving your milk, and moving your little one from tube or bottle to breast when ready.

Not sure what's wrong?

That's okay. Send a message describing what's happening and we'll guide you to the right kind of consultation.

You're not the only one

Does this sound familiar?

  • Every feed hurts, and I'm dreading the next one.
  • I'm not sure my baby is getting enough milk.
  • My baby cries, fusses or pulls away at the breast.
  • My breasts feel hard, full and painful.
  • My baby is in the NICU and I want to give them my milk.

These are some of the most common challenges new mothers face, and most of them get better with the right guidance. You don't have to figure this out alone.

"My baby was born premature and was in the NICU, and she patiently guided me on how to maintain a proper pumping schedule so my baby could have only mother's milk… She explained the correct posture and positioning so clearly that feeding became much easier and more comfortable."

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Where is the lactation clinic in Ahmedabad?

Lactation Clinic is at Arjun Grace, 12/A, Telephone Exchange Road, Karmchari Nagar, Naranpura, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380063. It is open from 4 PM to 6 PM by appointment, so please call or WhatsApp +91 84697 58464 before visiting. Home visits are also available across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

What does a lactation consultant do?

A lactation consultant helps mothers and babies with breastfeeding. Dr. Shweta assesses how your baby latches and feeds, checks for causes of pain or low supply, and gives you a clear, practical feeding plan you can follow at home.

Is breastfeeding supposed to hurt?

Some tenderness in the first days is common, but ongoing or sharp pain is not normal. It is usually caused by a shallow latch or positioning, and it often improves quickly with the right guidance.

Can you help if I have low milk supply?

Yes. Many mothers who worry about supply are actually producing enough milk. Dr. Shweta checks how your baby feeds and gains weight, then gives you a personalised plan to protect or build your supply.

Do you support mothers of premature or NICU babies?

Yes. With 10 years of NICU experience, Dr. Shweta helps with expressing and pumping schedules, storing breast milk, and moving premature babies from tube or bottle feeds to direct breastfeeding when they are ready.

When should I see a lactation consultant?

Whenever feeding feels painful, stressful or uncertain. Common reasons include nipple pain, a baby who isn't gaining weight, worries about milk supply, or a premature or NICU baby. Early support often makes things easier, but it's never too late to ask for help.

What does IBCLC mean?

IBCLC stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. It's a globally recognised certification for breastfeeding specialists, awarded after extensive clinical training and a rigorous international exam.

Can I visit the clinic without an appointment?

The clinic is open from 4 PM to 6 PM by appointment only. Please call or WhatsApp before visiting so we can give you our full, unhurried attention.

Which areas do you cover for home visits?

Home visits are available across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Call or WhatsApp to check availability for your area and arrange a time.

How do online consultations work?

We book a video call over WhatsApp at a time that suits you. Online sessions work well for supply questions, feeding plans, pumping and follow-ups, wherever you live.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Your baby, any discharge or medical papers, your baby's recent weight record, and a list of your questions. If you use a breast pump or bottles, please bring those too. Family members are welcome.

Which languages do you speak?

Consultations are available in English, Hindi and Gujarati, so you and your family can talk comfortably.
